Plot Summary
A real woman. A real story. A real triumph. In her Oscar-winning role, Julia Roberts stars as Erin Brockovich, a feisty young mother who fought for justice any way she knew how. Desperate for a job to support herself and her three children, she convinces attorney Ed Masry (Albert Finney) to hire her and promptly stumbles upon a monumental case against a giant corporation. Now Erin's determined to take on this powerful adversary even though no law firm has dared to do it before. And while Ed doesn't want anything to do with the case, Erin won't take "no" for an answer. So the two begin an incredible and sometimes hilarious fight that will bring a small town to its feet and a huge company to its knees.

Fresh: An exhilarating tale.
Fresh: A completly involving movie that will grab you from the first frame of film to the closing credits.
Fresh: One of the gutsiest, most exciting, and most satisfying courtroom docudramas ever, one that genuinely lifts the spirits as you watch it.
Rotten: The film lacks focus and energy, the character development is facile and thin, and what about those necklines?

Absolutely Fantastic
All around, this is an excellent movie. It is especially good at reminding me to stand up for the things I believe in through the good and greater times. Julia Roberts is stunning throughout the movie, the stand she takes is strong, and the movie speaks volumes about big corporations and their wishes to just throw money at problems. Overall, it's a movie worth renting and, for many, owning.
This movie is good, but let me tell you why.
Yeah the story is good. Yeah Julia Roberts is suddenly tolerable. But check out the direction and cinematography. Soderbergh filmed this just before he shot Traffic. The use of light and clarity of camera lens really separates dark and light with a hot and cold feel. He explores much more with this tactic in "Traffic" dividing California (bright, clear, crisp visuals), Mexico (hot, yellow, grainy visuals), and Maryland (blues, rainy, cold, metallic visuals). This movie is a real treat to watch as a piece of film-art. If you like this kinda visual cool-ness in movies, you should TOTALLY check out "Punch Drunk Love" or "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?"
Amazing woman!
This movie is amazing. I can't believe a real woman did this! I mean one person went this far. Good for her! Worth buying for sure!
