Plot Summary
A three-part anthology about love and sexuality by three master directors from three disparate cultures. "The Dangerous Thread of Things" is the story of a ménage-a-trois between a couple and a young woman on the coast of Tuscany. (Directed by Academy Award-nominee Michelangelo Antonioni.) "Equilibrium" tells of an advertising executive under enormous pressure at work. During visits with his psychiatrist, they delve into the possible reasons why his stress seems to manifest itself in a recurring erotic dream. (Directed by Academy Award-winner Steven Soderbergh and starring Robert Downey Jr., and Academy Award-winner Alan Arkin.) "The Hand" is a richly textured and achingly emotional erotic tale about a young tailor's long-time unrequited love for a beautiful Hong Kong courtesan. (Directed by Wong Kar-Wai.)

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Arranged in order of descending success.
Rotten: When the producers of Eros... described what they wanted from Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai, American Steven Soderbergh and Italian master Michelangelo Antonioni, they must have written the memo in Chinese.
Rotten: Eros comes nowhere near meeting the challenge of its title when compared to the increasingly lewd standards of our current cinema.
Rotten: A triptych only a film festival could love.

Eros-pretty awesome/not porn if that's what you're looking for rent Poison Ivy
First of all, I am really tired of a bunch of people who come on here expecting something dirty or porny. This is a collection of art house directors short films. Why don't you read a real review for something before you rent it or buy it? The word Eros doesn't mean sex or people are going to do it on screen, Eros refers to sexual desire and longing, which if you think about it, excludes the actual physical act and is in all the ways, a much more profound experience and one of the many points of Eros, the idea of the act of sex, the want and desire for it, is in someways more real and important to us as a tool of self-analysis and growth than the actual act itself. I definitely like Wong Kar Wai's short on here the best, I find the other two a little meandering and dry. This all being said, it's worth checking out, and if you're looking for porn, there are plenty of hot offerings the store has, Poison Ivy, etc.
I AM STILL WAITING?
I write reviews for a living! WOW! I have yet to see a trailer, not to mention amazing directors, actors, etc., THAT is SO FALSE! How they portray this movie made me angry! I found it VERY BORING! I rented a sexual movie, by great directors? I was waiting! See anything profound? INTERESTING? Nothing! Waste of money. If i wanted to see an array of nude drawings, I would go to the library!
Eros
The only mildly redeeming part of the movie, earning the one star, is the first chapter directed by Wong Kar Wai, though the plot is a little stereo-typical and predictable (impossible love with a courtesan, courtesan dies destitute and ill - la Tosca/Moulin Rouge anyone?). At least the acting and cinematography was decent.
The second part was in no way related to Eros or eroticism, other than a little nudity in a dream. More like neuroticism. It gets minor points for having snagged Robert Downey Jr, who I like as an actor, though it seemed like this was filmed during his cocaine-habit days.
The last piece was sophomoric and stilted. Apart from some expensive cars and beautiful scenery, it seemed like a film school project, with terrible acting, aweful dubbing, cheap filming, and self-important, non-sensical dialogue and plot ( for example: randomly watching nude women singing badly at a waterfall - "They're singing..." "How come we've never come here before?" "I guess we were never curious enough."). It was painful to watch.
Don't waste your time or money.
