Plot Summary

When an unexpected solo mountain trek ends in catastrophe for John Laughlin (Jason Priestly), inspired fellow climbers set out to brave the elements and follow John's dream...to conquer the world's tallest peak, Mt. Everest. Determined investigative reporter Norman Kelly (William Shatner) chronicles their daily struggle and when mutiny seems to destroy any hope of reaching the summit, injured climber Laurie Skreslet (Eric Johnson) leads the group across creaking icefalls, gaping chasms and through the "death zone" in an effort to survive.

Customer Reviews

Horrible

It seems that everyone involved in the making of this movie in this had absolutely no clue regarding mountain climbing or rock climbing
OR movie making for that matter.

Yes, it is only $0.99 but turkey manure is also for sale and I would not buy it either.

Everest

I enjoyed this movie because of the photography of actual Everest locations...they were beautiful. However, the lack of committment from a few of the climbers in the beginning surprised me. They undoubtedly spent alot of money to have this opportunity to climb and yet I had the impression a few of them could have respected the environment/people and the priviledge more. So much was not in the film...getting from point A to B with the struggles and hardships were not portrayed realistically. But, it was definitely worth viewing. Based on a true story ,if one keeps this in mind, one can take from it the realities which undoubtedly occurred and judge the film accordingly.

Witty and Riveting

This hot summer's project is watching as many films on cold places as possible. In films on climbing the Himalayas, this Canadian ascent of Everest, based on a true story, was the best of the lot. The direction and script are first-rate: intelligent, action-packed and scenic. Includes a line borrowed from Indiana Jones you'll be sure to recognize. Don't miss this flick!
