Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Genuine, if bizarre, proof of Sam Raimi's talent and developing skill. – Caryn James, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Fresh: A flashy good-natured display of special effects and scare tactics so extreme they can only be taken for laughs. – Variety Staff, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: Just when things start getting too grisly, Raimi rushes in with a hilarious, sendup joke to remind us that all this blood and guts is meant in spooky Grand Guignol fun. – Kevin Thomas, Los Angeles Times, Oct 1, 2013

Fresh: Evil Dead 2 is, pardon the expression, consistently lively -- a ghoulish splatter comedy that uses wildly excessive gore to provoke the kind of shock that lies between a laugh and a scream. – Dave Kehr, Chicago Tribune, Oct 1, 2013

Classic B Movie

This sequel to the cult classic is the perfect balance between the horror
of the original and the silliness of the third installment. It succeeds because
it has fun with the "B" movie genre, never claiming to be better than it is
while employing witty direction and dialogue. The scene I remember most
is when blood splashes on the lightbulb, making the room glow red.

Uber-Classic

One of my top five favorite horror flicks of all time. B movie or not, this movie is remarkable.

Classic!

One of my top favorite movie's of all time. Bruce Campbell is pure fun and it's witty.
