Business Drama that stands the test of time!

The CEO, Avery Bullard, of Tredway dies unexpectedly. There is no successor, therefore, senior executives begin to jockey and position to replace him. The plot is simple, but the intrigue and fine acting make this film an entertaining and thought-provoking business drama.

The final scene where the Company board is electing Bullard's successor is outstanding. William Holden gives a riveting speech. In fact, it should be required viewing for every business school student, undergrad and MBA.

Highly recommend this movie.

Classic Holden!

If you are a William Holden fan, watch it! Other great character and lead actors including Frederic March, Walter Pidgeon, Barbara Stanwick and more. A great story with insight into Corporate politics, canivery, and the struggle of one man to preserve dignity and truth to his colleagues and the company he works for. Too bad this isn't required viewing for Business Majors today...they might become better managers and stewards in their future industries.
