Plot Summary
Phil Rosenthal created one of the most successful sitcoms of all-time, “Everybody Loves Raymond.” He was a bona-fide expert in his craft. And then…. the Russians called. In the hilarious EXPORTING RAYMOND, a genuine fish-out-of-water comedy that could only exist in real life, Phil travels to Russia to help adapt his beloved sitcom for Russian television. The Russians don’t share his tastes. They don’t share his sense of humor. But what Phil did discover was a real comedy, filled with unique characters and situations that have to be seen to be believed. An audience award winner at multiple film festivals across the country, EXPORTING RAYMOND proves that even if you’ve never seen “Everybody Loves Raymond”, you’ll still enjoy this wildly entertaining film.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: "Exporting Raymond" is interesting, and even enjoyable, precisely because of the Russians, whose lives and work Mr. Rosenthal generously portrays alongside his own neuroses.
Fresh: There are no grand insights, but in all the fretting and frustration, the filmmaker cracks a window into the new Russian soul, albeit a tiny one.
Fresh: Everybody Loves Raymond creator Phil Rosenthal makes a droll guide in this enjoyable first-hand chronicle of how a U.S. sitcom gets adapted for Russian television.
Rotten: The movie's staleness, bland presentation, and general lack of insight into this particular armpit of globalization are no surprise... but Exporting Raymond captures a few satisfyingly human moments.

Very Enjoyable!
Realistic documentary of what happens when you take an American and stick them in Russia without any cultural training. My wife and I loved the show in America, and now live in the former USSR. We laughed out loud and found it almost therapeutic to watch Phil enjoy some of the many illogical and backward ways of the Russians, we feel your pain!
Amazing and well done.
A must watch comedy classic. It might get confusing at first but it starts to get funnier later in the movie. The series and the movie don't have a connection though.
great documentary
Good production value and plenty of laughs. you get insight into how a tv show is made and you get insight into the most important part... the culture shock between East and West. Rent or Buy, it's worth the money :)
