Plot Summary

Written by multiple Emmy Award Winner Wendell Morris, fourteen year old Alyssa (Carly Schroeder: "The Lizzie McGuire Movie", "Gracie") has been living with her grandmother (Academy Award Nominated Katharine Ross) since the death of her mother a year ago. Troubled and lost, it is decided she should go to the Bahamas to live with the father she never knew she had. Caught in the difficult realization of having a father, coupled with the adjustment to island culture, she seeks refuge in the discovery of the astonishing gift she has for communicating with dolphins. But when the powers-that-be threaten to close down her father’s dolphin research facility, it is Alyssa and her wild cetacean friend who hold the key.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: As Eye of the Dolphin makes some jarringly contrived plot twists, a viewer can imagine writer/director/executive producer Michael Sellers listing his assets and pondering how to combine them for one movie. – Maureen M. Hart, Chicago Tribune, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: For all its good intentions, Eye of the Dolphin is unsteady and amateurish, with its own problems in getting its message across. – Nell Minow, Chicago Sun-Times, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: There's real heart to be found in the story but it comes along with borderline saccharine sentimentality, a too facile ending, and clean outcomes that aren't earned. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: A limp coming-of-age tale set in the Bahamas. – Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel, Jun 24, 2010

LOVE this movie!!! Alyssa is a complete druggie at the beginning of the movie, but she ends up teaching a lot of people a big lesson with one dolphin! You really should watch if you love dolphins.
