Bernard King

My father BERNARD KING(legendary basketball player) was in it. It was an okay film. it was a litle funny

c'mon this is a classic sports movie. Bernard King was great as was Gabe Kaplan. A bunch of inner city nyc kids, lead by superjew Gabe Kaplan, head out to po dunk midwest to win some games. It was very NY and a great time piece. The movie was ahead of its time as the girl hoopster had to pretend to be a guy to play (no title 9 back then). Btw that girl hoopster was a former globe trotter.

This and The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh (a young DrJ and Gary Coleman) are THE classic 70s hoop films. I'll take either of these over Semi Pro or Hoosiers.

If its a fine cinematic experience you're after, go watch Titanic or Gone With The Wind. But if you grew up playing hoops in nyc in the 70s/80s and want some yucks and are looking for lighter fare, this will not dissapoint.

A Sports Classic

Not very well known to younger folks...but a terrific hoops movie from back when!
