Plot Summary

A classic 'what-if' time travel romantic love story, in the tradition of "Butterfly Effect," "Fetching Cody" tells the story of Art (Baruchel), a street hustling kid, and the love of his life, Cody (Lind). When she falls into a coma after an apparent drug overdose, Art suspends disbelief upon discovering a time machine, embarking on a rescue mission through time and space, deep into Cody's past, to save her. What follows are Art's increasingly reckless attempts at changing reality. Even if he manages to rearrange the future, he never quite gets the results he seeks. What he may not realize until it's too late, is that the only obstacle to saving her may be the very thing he can't let go of- his love for Cody. A critically acclaimed, startling and emotionally engaging directorial debut by one of Canada's brightest rising star directors.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Ungainly mix of gritty street-life drama, perky teen romance and seriocomic sci-fi time-tripping never jells. – Joe Leydon, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Ray's script shambles off in all directions and succeeds only in reinforcing our disbelief. – Susan Walker, Toronto Star, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: The final third of the script feels like an afterthought in a film that cannot bring any plausibility to its gritty setting nor its characters' plight because it began with an inherently sentimental plot device. – Kate Taylor, Globe and Mail, Jun 24, 2010

Great Movie

It's such a shame this movie went by unnoticed in the US. I was watching encore one day and this movie was on. At first, I just wanted to see Jay Baruchel when he was younger, but as the movie went on, I really enjoyed the movie. It was clever, funny, and tragic simultaneously. The acting, writing, and directing was impeccable. I reccomend this to anyone and everyone.

time travel must see

I'm a big fan of time travel stories and I was happy to stumble upon this little gem on cable one day. True it's not perfect but it's a pleasure to see characters, believable characters, grow and change throughout the film as they learn how their actions have created the life they now live. Just another "It's A Wonderful Life" / "Butterfly Effect" (what would life be like IF?) rip off? Not really. Check it out.

Fantastic!

This movie is just great, it has a great story line and actors are amazing. I bought it because of Jay :] and I loved it! Just a fantastic movie, it's cute and funny and so real. Everyone should see this movie.
