Plot Summary

FIGHTVILLE takes us inside the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), a controversial sport that over the past decade has developed from a brutal gladiatorial sideshow into a billion-dollar international industry. But FIGHTVILLE looks beyond the bright lights of the Las Vegas main event, focusing instead on the personal dreams and destinies of a group of fighters, promoters and trainers deep within the American South. They include current MMA phenom Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier and veteran trainer “Crazy” Tim Credeur. Training at strip mall gyms and spilling their blood in local rodeo arenas, very few of the fighters who enter the cage will become champions. A reflection of the American Dream itself, FIGHTVILLE shows us the personal and physical sacrifices required of those who do.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Ms. Epperlein and Mr. Tucker have talent and resolve - they spent months shooting "Fightville," a commitment that's scarcely evident - which makes the movie's superficiality all the more frustrating. – Manohla Dargis, New York Times, Apr 19, 2012

Fresh: "Fightville" feels authentic about this world, where success may be measured in wins, but the balance of unrelenting brutality and self-discipline needed for those wins is a trickier equation. – Robert Abele, Los Angeles Times, Apr 19, 2012

Rotten: An up-close but superficial portrait of aspiring MMA stars as they fight their way through the Cajun Country regional circuit. – Sheri Linden, Hollywood Reporter, Apr 19, 2012

Fresh: 'Fightville," you had me at "gladiator school." – Kyle Smith, New York Post, Apr 20, 2012

A Fresh Look at the World of Fighting

Fightville is destined to be a classic of the sport. If you are a fight fan, you'll love it. If you are new to MMA, then this is going to open your eyes to what MMA really is. A beautiful film and the "star" Dustin Poirier is a real champion.

A treat for MMA fans!

A superb documentary which any MMA fan will savor!

Awesome movie!!

I saw this movie awhile back. I have to say it was great. It finally showed the dedication and hard work you must do in order to have a career in martial arts. It showed to people that martial arts isn't about a bunch of street thugs just beating each other up. This movie had heart!
