Plot Summary
Legendary Detroit Tigers pitcher Billy Chapel (Kevin Costner) has always been better at baseball than at love. Just ask Jane (Kelly Preston), his on-again, off-again girlfriend. At the end of a disappointing season, just before what may be the last professional game of his life, Jane tells Billy she's leaving him. Now, with his career and his love life in the balance, Billy battles against his physical and emotional limits as he plays the game of his life. And now with every pitch, Billy comes closer to making the most important decision of his life. The suspense doesn't end until the last ball is thrown in this heartwarming drama about love, life and the perfect game.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Not a frame reflects the distinctively edgy touch that director Sam Raimi brought to films as diverse as The Evil Dead and A Simple Plan.
Rotten: A perfect game in Yankee Stadium is no big deal these days; two have been pitched in the past 16 months. But a good baseball movie, that's hard.
Fresh: Under the confident direction of Sam Raimi, Mr. Costner gives a restrained but emotionally accessible performance.
Fresh: For Love of the Game is an entertaining double play: an excellent baseball movie and an even better love story.

best movie that you will ever watch.
if your lady wants to watch a chick flick and you dont well you finally can!! this movie hits the hearts of the ladys and of the passion of all the sports fans. well done!!! IF YOU LIKE THE VOICE OF VINCE SCULLY AND THE ACTING OF KEVIN COSTNER IN FIELD OF DREAMS THAN YOU WILL LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!! end of story enjoy
Possibly the best baseball movie ever
Fantastic cinematography/sound work (watch it with a good surround system...)...great story, great use of music...loved it!
Not strictly a baseball movie, this is a movie about love of a woman and baseball.
Kevin Costner's acting alone doesn't carry this movie. But, combine the excellent musical score, cinemotography and decent directing and we have a story of a star pitcher who career is on the road down. He wants to go out in a flash of brilliance, baseball has been his love and life all these years until a special woman became part of him as well. This is the story of him laying one love to rest, and leaving one life behind to start another one really. It's interesting, emotional, and pulls at the heart strings. I emphathize with characters which is part of the reason I enjoyed this movie.
