Plot Summary
Can the love between two people ever be an abomination? Is the chasm separating homosexuals and Christianity too wide to cross? How can the Bible be used to justify hate? These are the questions at the heart of Daniel Karslake's "For the Bible Tells Me So." Through the experiences of five very normal, very Christian, very American families - including those of former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt and Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson - we discover how people of faith handle, or sometimes tragically fail to handle, having a gay child. Informed by such respected voices as Bishop Desmond Tutu, Harvard's Peter Gomes, Orthodox Rabbi Steve Greenberg and Reverend Jimmy Creech, "For the Bible Tells Me So" offers healing, clarity and understanding to anyone caught in the crosshairs of scripture and sexual identity.

Fresh: There is no denying that the film fills a need. The inevitable DVD should be packaged in a plain cardboard sleeve, so that viewers can carry it in their pockets and, if confronted by a homophobe, hand it over and say, "Watch this, then get back to me."
Fresh: As long as it's dissecting the six or seven passages in the Bible that ostensibly disparage homosexuality, this documentary ode to tolerance takes a shrewd look at how speciously selective and ahistorical the church condemnation of gays really is.
Fresh: [Director] Karslake balances the more emotional elements of the film together with the scriptural analysis and weaves them into a moving conclusion.
Fresh: While the film is unlikely to sway anyone whose mind already isn't made up, it provides plenty food for thought in its examination of biblical doctrine on same-sex love and how it resonates to this day.

This is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen, I can watch 10 times over and still watch it again. The trail gives it no justice, the stories in it and it comprehensive look at scripture make it the great piece of film it is. It opens eyes to the fact that the Bible, God and Jesus are means of Love and Justice, not hate. If you question homosexuality based on faith you will be enlightened and if you question your faith because of your sexual orientation it will be stregthened. A must see!

Moving, inspirational and intelligent
For the ignorant people making comments about what they think the bible says about homosexuality, it is more than obvious that you either did not watch this film or are too stupid to comprehend it. It is a tragedy that so many people who claim to be Christians have absolutely no real understanding of the bible and the time that it was written. They only know what morons like Pat Robertson, Glenn Beck and Jimmy Swaggart have told them. My favorite quote from the film speaks volumes! "It's ok to have a fifth grade understanding of God as long as you are in the fifth grade" !!!!!
