Plot Summary
Frances (Greta Gerwig) lives in New York, but she doesn't really have an apartment. Frances is an apprentice for a dance company, but she's not really a dancer. Frances has a best friend named Sophie, but they aren't really speaking anymore. Frances throws herself headlong into her dreams, even as their possible reality dwindles. Frances wants so much more than she has but lives her life with unaccountable joy and lightness. FRANCES HA is a modern comic fable that explores New York, friendship, class, ambition, failure, and redemption.

Fresh: As Frances literally dances her way through the streets of New York, you can't help smiling and knowing she will be OK. She will figure out how to be the adult she was meant to be.
Fresh: Few films top Woody Allen's Manhattan for capturing New York City's blend of rapture and apprehension. Noah Baumbach's Frances Ha comes close.

Celebrating Mediocrity Ha
I really don't understand the direction of this movie. The heroine of the story was simply idiotic, annoying, and immature: a loser. What catharsis can we expect? The film only used cliches to "look profound" such as: black and white, unknown actors, etc. but simply failed to deliver… Unless, independent cinema is going in the same direction as mainstream TV celebrating stupidity, this movie is absurd.
What the?
I gave it a star because its not horrible but its as close as possible. It's a nightmare scenario that people should be very afraid of I should think. A college graduate wondering aimlessly through life with absolutely no idea of a direction and no conviction about anything? This is what happens when parents pay for college and the child never understands or gets a wake up call. She should never have passed the first year of finishing school. I'm surprised she can tie her shoes. As "lovable" as this character may be, I don't think less than mediocre is funny or something to encourage. I didn't act or think this way once I turned 15 years old and its tragic she's supposed to be 27.
Absolutely awful and pointless.
This has got to be one of the worse films I have ever seen. Just pointless and irritating. The positive comments by other reviewers completely escape me. Profound? Contemplative? Hardly. But truly a complete waste of one’s time. I had to stop watching. The most regrettable iTunes film purchase.
