Plot Summary
From Disney and creative genius Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland, The Nightmare Before Christmas) comes the hilarious and offbeat Frankenweenie, a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life — with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor's fellow students, teachers and the entire town learn that getting a new "leash on life" can be monstrous. Complete with electrifying bonus features, Frankenweenie is alive with enchanting fun for the whole family.

A FRIGHTFUL (AND DELIGHTFUL) CREATURE FEATURE!
Not since "Sweeney Todd" has Tim Burton been able to create something as cheerfully grim and whimsically macabre as "Frankenweenie", one of the most endearing and entertaining animated films I've seen all year. Acting as both an affectionate love letter to the classic horror movies of early cinema and as a faithful homage to 50s suburban Americana, this joyfully nostalgic monster mash feels like a true Burton project at heart. From the creepy character designs to the beautiful black-and-white aesthetic, every ounce of this film is teeming with lively gothic touches that hearken back to the director's earlier features. And although it doesn't quite qualify as one of Burton's very best, it's still a satisfyingly spooky treat.
Based on the 1984 short film of the same name, "Frankenweenie" tells the story of a young boy named Victor Frankenstein (Charlie Tahan), whose beloved dog Sparky is fatally wounded in a freak accident. Desperate to save his furry friend, Victor decides to take matters into his own hands and bring him back to life using the power of science. The experiment proves successful, but when word gets out about Sparky's resurrection, the entire town of New Holland goes into a frenzy, leading to an exciting climax eerily reminiscent of James Whales' classic 1931 "Frankenstein" film.
From start to finish, the animation is what truly carries this movie and makes it so fun to watch. Every character looks like a pencil sketch that seems to have magically popped out in three dimensions. The added aspect of black-and-white cinematography gives the film an extra sense of nostalgia and depth. Unfortunately, the storytelling isn't quite as strong as the visuals. The plot takes a while to reach any sort of interest or crisis, and most of the characters are just strange for the sake of being strange, (take the appropriately named Weird Girl, for example) although their freakish designs and disturbing personalities are enough to enjoy on their own. But despite this minor inconveniences, I still had a great time with "Frankenweenie". Sure, Burton's directorial style is much more about style than substance, but thanks to the flick's oddball sense of humor and delightful eye candy, it really is an adventure worth taking.
In spite of its heartwarming narrative and kid-friendly presentation, this really isn't meant to be a family film at all. It's much more of a movie for older kids and adults who've grown up watching Burton classics like "Edward Scissorhands" and "The Nightmare Before Christmas". Some of the visuals may be too frightening for young viewers, plus they may or may not be into the whole black-and-white format, so just keep that in mind. Overall, this beautifully animated monster homage is definitely worth checking out. It may not have the best story or characters, but it's still a fun-filled ride!
Great animated films
Tim Burton did great directed this films. The stop-motion was amazing, the stroy was great and the music by Danny Elfman was outstanding.
This is a perfect films for halloween.
