From Time to Time: Nice Family Film!
This movie is a coming of age story and also a ghost story, but mostly it is about discovering who you are based on finding out about those who came before you. I liked the relationship that the boy had with his grandmother (the great and wonderful actress Maggie Smith) and the plot development, despite the critic reviews.
It might seem pretty farfetched, but it was an enjoyable family movie and the scenery was fantastic.
Good for both parents and kids
The acting is great and the story is really interesting. An engrossing mystery is gradually solved by a boy, with help from his grandmother (the fantastic Maggie Smith), and there are good lessons about racism, bullying, and the importance of family. This is a good family movie for kids older than about 8 years old. There are ghosts, but they are not terribly scary. A few scenes, such as a burning building, might be frightening to very young children, and the ending is fairly sad. But overall I do recommend this movie. It is interesting for both kids and parents.
