Plot Summary

"My name is Dylan Hunt. My story begins the day on which I died." Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek, brings fans another enthralling tale of the future. Set in a time between now and the era of the starship Enterprise, Genesis II follows Hunt (Alex Cord), who awakes after 154 years of suspended animation into a post-apocalyptic world that's torn between the peace-loving citizens of Pax and the militaristic, mutant Tyranians. Both want Hunt to join their cause. But the Tyranians have two cruel weapons to persuade Hunt: a device of torture called a stim. And an alluring mutant (Mariette Hartley) with two navels...and one ice-cold heart.

Flash back

I watched this as a kid and am glad it is out. Well put together but has that made for TV feeling and quick wrap up to run in it's time slot. Worth watching.

Nice Find, Go Dig For More

Concur with above. Enjoyed this greatly as a pre-teen. iTunes needs to go find the Questor Tapes which was another Gene Roddenberry non-Star Trek offering with Mike Farrell and James Foxworthy.

Fun, older Roddenberry

The way I hear it, there are four versions of this story: Genesis II was the first, but like Star Trek's "The Cage", the studios didn't like it and wanted GR to do it over. So he made "Planet Earth," a lower budget version with John Saxon, and a worse story. The studios didn't like that one either, so they tried a variant without GR's approval or participation. That one is supposed to be God-awful. But it can't be nearly as bad as the abyssmal "Andromeda." Cheesy background music, and recycled Star Trek actors and effects aside, this is definitely the best of the four.

Now, if only iTunes would send me a copy that had the audio fixed (it's out of sync throughout the entire movie).
