EXCELLENT CLASSIC!

Years ago this film was my first exposure to Errol Flynn, and he has never been so charmingly funny yet confident. The supporting cast in this film are equally charming, from the comical Alan Hale Sr to the defeated Ward Bond, very well done! A black and white classic you'll adore!

Great Errol Flynn movie

It's a great old movie to watch. It's light and very funny. Errol flynn is very good and the supporting cast are awesome as well.

A Champion with Class

Back in the seventies, The Adventures of Robin Hood was re-released on a twin bill with Gentleman Jim. It has been one of my favorites since then. It's success rests on Errol Flynn's terrific performance, the great writing and the superb Warner Bros. supporting cast, including Ward Bond as boxing legend John L. Sullivan. Boxing may be film's subject, but the battle of the sexes is it's heart with Alexis Smith a worthy opponent to Flynn.

Flynn is brash, charming and confident, but seldom arrogant, a edge he maintains through the entire film thanks to Raoul Walsh's direction, making the ending ring true and not hollow. Breezy, fun and with a taste of San Francisco during the Gold Rush, it is a film the entire family can enjoy.
