Plot Summary
To save his job as an employment agent, former musician William (Willie K) must get a job for Merton (Eric Gilliom), a bumbling man-child who surfs every day in a place where there are no waves. Meanwhile, William's long-time girlfriend, Laura (Carolyn Omine), cooks up a half-baked scheme to drag her man to the alter. Fueling the con is a colorful cast of islanders including a traffic cop, (Augie T), a tourist (Jake Shimabukuro) and cameos by Pat Simmons of the Doobie Brothers and Willie Nelson. Written/directed by Maui's Brian Kohne, Get a Job "is a name dropper's delight--a who's who of Hawaiian musicians and entertainers" (Hawaii Tribune-Herald) with a tropical soundtrack by the award-winning Barefoot Natives. It's a multicultural plate-lunch of surprise and hilarity certain to leave you smiling and hungry for more!

Hawaii's Biggest Stars!
From Willie K and Augie T, to Jake Shimabukuro, Henry Kapono and Amy Hanaiali'i, this hilarious movie features the islands best... Musicians... acting in comedic roles. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was non-stop laughs. My husband said it was one of the funniest movies he'd ever seen. Amy's brother, Eric Gilliom, made had me laughing out loud over and over again. And the music. The Music! We used to live in the islands, so it was really special to see the 'real' Hawaii instead of Hollywood's stereotypes. No mai tais, no resorts, and no fire knife dancers in this gem.
Best of Indie Filmmaking
Hilarious film, with great music. Was cool also to see celebs like Willie Nelson and Mick Fleetwood got behind it. Would recommend to anyone interested in having a good laugh, and especially folks that have traveled to or spent time in Hawaii.
Car Wash for a new generation
I grew up with the iconic movie Carwash. Get A Job delivers what Carwash did in the 70's. Spot on comedy with a solid soundtrack. Add to this the beauty and true spirit of Maui and you have a great work.
This is the type of movie that WILL surprise you and charm you. It will make you laugh and feel good at the same time.
