Inspiring

This movie first shown to me by my 8th grade history teacher ( Mr. Walton ) started a spark inside of me about the battle of Gettysburg that has grown into a wildfire in the last year. This past summer I bought the movie on eBay and watched it at least once or twice a week. Now, at the end of the month my mom and I are making the trip to Gettysburg to bask in the glow of the awesomeness of how special of a place Gettysburg is. Not only did they hold little round top and defend the stone wall for us. In honor, they died for us.

A movie to watch over and over.

It's difficult to do justice to the Battle of Gettysburg that spanned 3 days of fighting and develop individual characters on both sides [actually predominately of the Southern Generals]. Left out of the movie was the horrific fighting that took place at the opposite end of the Union lines on and around Culp's Hill on the 2nd and 3rd day of the battle, oftentimes in melees at close quarters, not to mention the fighting of the 3rd Corps on the 2nd day in the Peach Orchard and Wheatfield, etc. Yet, even with those parts left out it was still an excellent movie to watch, even for a former Civil War re-enactor. I wish they had completed the third movie in the series, "The Last Full Measure".

Best Movie

All it took was once, and then I was hooked. Rigorously authenticated, this has got to be one of the BEST MOVIES OUT THERE. Whether you're a Civil War buff or not, you will enjoy it. I never cried during a movie (no, not even Titanic), but the dedicated actors and thousands of Civil War re-enactors, no CGI or green screen stuff, combined with the most moving soundtrack I've ever heard, make it better than any other movie, even if it is long. Based on Michael Shaara's book "The Killer Angels," a historical fiction novel that is so authentic it should be nonfiction, THIS MOVIE BELONGS IN YOUR LIBRARY.
