Plot Summary
Celebrity photographer Connor Mead (MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY) loves freedom, fun and women...in that order. Connor's brother Paul is more the romantic type. In fact, he's about to be married. Unfortunately, on the eve of the big event, Connor's mockery of romance proves a real buzz-kill for Paul, the wedding party and a houseful of well wishers--including Connor's childhood friend Jenny (JENNIFER GARNER), the one woman in his life who has always seemed immune to his considerable charm. Just when it looks like Connor may single-handedly ruin the wedding, he gets a wake-up call from the ghost of his late Uncle Wayne (MICHAEL DOUGLAS), the hard-partying, legendary ladies man upon whose exploits Connor has modeled his lifestyle. Uncle Wayne has an urgent message for his protege, which he delivers through the ghosts of Connor's jilted girlfriends--past, present and future--who take him on a revealing and hilarious odyssey through a lifetime of failed relationships.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: A junky-looking romantic comedy that's neither remotely romantic nor passably comic.
Rotten: Every audience member with an intellect bigger than a squid's knows at all times where Ghosts is heading.
Rotten: Please, ladies, don't go see this movie. (Chances are most men would rather put out their eyes than go see a film with such a title.)
Rotten: Only two characters might qualify as sympathetic.

Worth watching...at least a rental
I fly over 200k long international flight miles a year and watch a LOT of movies. There are few "new" movies that I haven't seen. This is a cute movie. It's not a 5 star and doesn't make my top 10 list, sure. But it's cute. Get your loved one, make some popcorn and curl up on the couch. It will make for a nice evening of entertainment. I highly recommend it.
Watched it on the plane - gonna rent it for the family
I watched this on a recent international flight - actually i watched it 3 times cause I didn't start it the first time until the middle and missed some because I fell asleep.
I don't normally go for love oriented movies, but I have a thing for romantic movies where the two main figures love each other but can't find their way "to" each other. I thought this was a good movie with some good comedy, some tear jerker moments, and some useful stuff too, such as a quote from the movie which I like, "The power in any relationship lies with whoever cares the least."
Yes it uses a gimmick that's just about worn out "The Ghost of Christmas Past," but it works well.
I think it's certainly worth renting. If you're a romantic, it's probably a buy.
Don´t even think about watching this movie.
Maybe you will be drawned to see it...but better if you wait for it on TV. The idea of personalizing the Christmas Carol idea on dating and on being a jerk with girls its just annoying. There are millions of themes you can take to make a movie, and they do this? Give me a break! Too bad, its a great ensamble, it has a couple of laughs, but its a boring movie.
