Plot Summary
Like the inspiring heroes in Miracle, Remember the Titans, and The Rookie, the amazingly gifted Santiago Munez, a young immigrant living in the barrios of Los Angeles, has an impossible dream -- to play soccer for a world class team. Unexpectedly getting a tryout with one of England's premier soccer clubs, Newcastle United, Santiago finds himself totally alone in a world where soccer is a religion and the players are gods. Now he not only has to prove he has the passion, talent, and determination to make it alongside the best in the world, but he has to overcome his own demons and those of others. Filled with memorable characters, great heart, and real-life soccer legends, Goal! The Dream Begins is a triumphant story about believing in your dreams.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Predictable Goal! The Dream Begins may not be the stuff of everyone's reveries, but the film is capably acted and somewhat inspiring.
Rotten: There's plenty of fat to cut from Goal!, which would have been a stronger story at a lean, mean 90 minutes.
Fresh: The best American-made sports film since Miracle.
Rotten: Handsomely shot and with a likable lead in Kuno Becker, it also suffers from a script so outrageously generic you could buy it at Costco.

One of the best movies I've ever seen
It is like Invincible, but better, and a whole lot more inspirational too, not only I play on a soccer team. I say this because the film shows how a young illegal immigrant in LA rises from the bottom and reaches the top when he leads Newcastle to victory over Liverpool, which is one of the world's greatest teams. This is not only perfect for families and soccer-lovers, but also people who need to understand about issues today such as discrimination, asthma, love and illegal immigrants.
Very Uplifting!
I loved this movie, it brought so much emotion and hope to the table, and it did not disappoint. If your looking for a movie that makes you cry, laugh, and roar in celebration, this movie stands alone.
