Plot Summary
From writer/director Stuart Murdoch (lead singer of beloved indie pop group Belle & Sebastian) comes the most delightfully different musical of the year. Eve (Emily Browning) is a catastrophe—low on self-esteem but high on fantasy, especially when it comes to music. Over the course of one Glasgow summer, she meets two similarly rootless souls: posh Cass (Hannah Murray) and fastidious James (Olly Alexander), and together they decide there's only one thing to do: form a pop group.

Rotten: Belle and Sebastian fans will be fully sated; everyone else might feel as if they'd consumed a meal consisting entirely of meringue.
Fresh: The lively, playful, self-aware musical God Help the Girl has such a will-o'-the-wisp quality you fear it will disappear if you attempt to fence it.
Fresh: This isn't a memorable or especially serious film, despite its nod toward "issues," but it has an insouciant spirit all its own.

Slow start, Great Finish!!
I have been waiting for this movie ever since the trailer was first released and since my UK friends had the chance to see a few weeks ago! Recommend this movie for all pop indie music fans and especially any Emily Browning fans. Had a great time watching it last night on iTunes. Can't wait to see it on the semi-big screen of the art house movie place here in Honolulu on Sept 30. That wait would have been tortuous!! Buy it in HD and watch with friends on Apple TV. You'll love it.
