Plot Summary

Winner of seven Academy Awards® including Best Picture and Best Director, the unforgettable classic Going My Way lights up the screen as it warms the heart. Best Actor winner Bing Crosby shines as Father O'Malley, a young priest new to an established but financially flailing parish. When his philosophies conflict with those of curmudgeonly Father Fitzgibbon (Best Supporting Actor winner Barry Fitzgerald), the result is a timeless story of patience, compromise and - just maybe - understanding. Featuring mesmerizing music including the Academy Award®-winning song "Swinging on a Star," Going My Way exemplifies the silver screen at its golden best! "****! Hard to resist!" (Leonard Maltin)

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Rich, warm and human to the core. – Bosley Crowther, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Fresh: It offers, in the performance of nutcracker-faced, 56-year-old Barry Fitzgerald, the finest, funniest and most touching portrayal of old age that has yet reached the screen. – TIME Magazine, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Major thread of gaiety runs through the proceedings, and McCarey has liberally sprinkled sparkling individual episodes along the way for cinch audience reaction. – Variety Staff, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: There's nothing special or memorable about this overlong endeavor, the first of two motion pictures to feature Bing Crosby's insufferably noble Father Chuck O'Malley. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Jan 19, 2011

Refreshing

Going my way is refreshing, especially when compared to what is coming out of Hollywood today. This movie is humorous and inspiring. Bing Crosby plays a fine Catholic priest; one we would be proud to have as our pastor. I wish I Tunes would add more solid Catholic movies like this one -- maybe Diary of a Country Priest...

Bells of St. Mary's

Wonderful movie, but would like to see the sequel "Bells of St. Mary's" on here as well. Keep up the good work I-tunes!

Going My Way!!!

This movie truly is a gem worth watching over & over again. A feel good movie that can be enjoyed by everyone in the family. Young & old. I too would like to see the sequel made available on itunes. The 'Bells of St. Mary" would complete this beautiful collection.
