Plot Summary
Winner of 'Best Documentary – Doha Tribeca Film Festival', 'Best Film – London International Documentary Festival', 'Best Documentary – Dox Box', 'Best Film – Mumbai Film Festival,' and a New York Times 'Critic’s Pick': From the award-winning director of Being Osama comes a poetic and playful documentary celebrating the many worlds of his feisty Beiruti grandmother. Teta Fatima is the 83-year old matriarch of theKaabour family and the sharp-witted queen bee of an old Beiruti quarter. The film documents her larger-than-life character and enduring love for her violinist husband (deceased 20 years) in this charming and intimate exploration of the themes of family, music, aging, and love. “Grandma, a Thousand Times” brings together grandfather, grandmother, and grandson in a visually breath-takingmagic-realist documentary that aims to defy a past death and a future one.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Warmhearted and defiantly unsentimental, "Grandma, a Thousand Times" gains lightness from Teta's tart observations ... and the director's stylistic sprightliness.
Fresh: It's at least enough to inspire a phone call to your own grandparents.
Fresh: Director Mahmoud Kaabour is Fatima's grandson, and she instantly seizes on--lightly, in her way--the guilt and panic that's inspired him to make this film.
Fresh: Touching doco profiles a proud lioness of Lebanon.

A Must See
A lovely, lovely film. Saw it in Abu Dhabi at the National Theater. I laughed. I cried. I called my 85 years young mother. Looking forward to the Director's next film.
Must-watch
An amazing film about the love, family, and life. I cried from how beautiful her love for her husband was/is as well as laughed from her witty sharp-tongued comments.
Lovely !
This movie is so beautiful. I don't know what other words to use to describe it. It's a perfect depiction of love and family values. MUST WATCH <3
