Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: [Adds] additional layers of self-consciousness to a story that was already pretty derivative.
Rotten: "Grave Encounters 2" is a miserable affair, a sequel to a movie that drummed up most of its attention online but one that had a few starts and scares along the way.
Customer Reviews
Absolute trash.
I have no idea if this is a joke release and the real one is still coming… at least I would hope and pray that is the case.
The first Grave Encounters was one of the biggest surprises of last year… I loved it so much that I bought it as gifts and gave it to people who love a good scary movie. I championed it to anyone that would listen to me.
For part 2, it will be the opposite. I will tell anyone who listens what a piece of crap this movie is. It's honestly just embarrassingly awful. It reminds me of Project X or Superbad for the first hour. We get to see shots of someone peeing on the side of the road and then flipping the bird! Then we get to see puke shots, and jello shots and lesbians and blow up dolls! What does this have to do with anything? I have no idea.
How about smoking weed? Want to see that on film, like, we all know it hasn't been done to death. Well, you're in luck! Harold and Kumar go to a haunted mental home is what this should be called.
What do they do when they finally get into the institution? They fart… and watch it on infrared cameras. The scariest parts of the film are the flashbacks to the original film.
I am just angry at such a wasted opportunity to follow up with something scary and fun and if you had asked me what would be the very worst thing they could produce? It would be this POS movie.
Worst "horror" film of the decade.
Very good! I enjoyed it!
Look, the first 40 minutes are just about a bunch of kids doing drugs and being kids...i personally just skipped that.
But once they go to the location where they are wanting to see if "Grave encounters" was just faked or real; things go a bit nutty. It has unique scares, the graphics are great. I loved it. If you dont like the moving camera thing..well then you're missing out on a good movie.
And also, if you dont like the ending because it isnt a "happy" ending and its kind of messed up..well then why are you watching horror movies in the first place? other than that the ending was just perfect for the movie.
I give it 4/5 stars since i skipped the first 40 mins because if i wanted to see a bunch of kids get drunk and make out i would go to a local frat party. The other HOUR is full of scares and creepy stuff.
If you give this less than 3 stars, you obviously havent seen some of the "Worst horror movies ever made" that actually deserve bad scores compared to this.
WAY BETTER THAN THE FIRST ONE!!!!
I don't know why people are giving this such bad reviews! this one makes the first one look like childs play! This one is SCARY & has a great storyline!
