Plot Summary
This documentary explores the damaging effects of the film business on the environment. Greenlit follows Miranda, an indie producer, to the realization that making movies has a tendency to be extremely wasteful. The documentary explores films that have wreaked havoc on our environment and poses the question: What can we do to soften our carbon footprint as filmmakers? Miranda follows the cast and crew of the indie feature film, The River Why, starring Zach Gilford (Friday Night Lights), as they bring aboard a Green Consultant, Lauren Selman, and watch her struggles to 'Green' their film. Even in a town as eco-conscious as Portland, the task proves challenging and we see how film crews and film unions maintain that there is no place in the line of filmmaking for someone who's job description is Environmental Consultant. Both entertaining and humorous, this documentary is filled with compelling and important facts about filmmaking and sustainability.

Customer Reviews
Is it wrong to review your own movie?
Yeah, I made this film. So if course this is going to be a five star review. But lemme just toss out the stars to Craig Richie who composes the shiiii( oh, I don't think we can curse on iTunes can we?) anyway his music is awesome and it's actually made from recycled trash that he converted into instruments. No joke. That's commitment. You can see more about his music at greenlit.org
The editing and camera work is pretty flawless if I do say so myself. That's Marc Lesser. Who knew a kid from Connecticut boarding school could rip it out so well? As far as story an content if this little film goes, its not that bad. In fact you may even find yourself laughing. Unless you have no sense of humor and you love everything Al Gore related and think even he can't take a joke. Anyway, I hope you watch! and I hope it totally changed your life like it did mine :) - Miranda
Refreshing Take on Serious Topic
By now you're probably tired of hearing about climate change, but did you know that the film industry, one of the environment's most vocal defenders, is also one of its biggest polluters? In this documentary, producer Miranda Bailey draws attention to the film industry's rather large carbon footprint and films her often frustrating attempts at "greening" the set of a major motion picture. What follows is a smart, insightful look at the challenges we face in trying to reduce our carbon footprint.
Worth A Watch!
This documentary is definitely worth watching! I had no idea how wasteful movie production can be. I liked how this doc tells the story in a humorous and informative way. I saw this at a film fest originally and look forward to seeing again!!
