Plot Summary

Oscar® winner Robert De Niro (Raging Bull, Silver Linings Playbook) and Oscar® nominee Sylvester Stallone (the Rocky films, The Expendables) play Billy “The Kid” McDonnen and Henry “Razor” Sharp, two local Pittsburgh fighters whose fierce rivalry put them in the national spotlight. Each had scored a victory against the other during their heyday, but in 1983, on the eve of their decisive third match, Razor suddenly announced his retirement, refusing to explain why but effectively delivering a knock-out punch to both their careers. Thirty years later, boxing promoter Dante Slate Jr., seeing big dollar signs, makes them an offer they can’t refuse: to re-enter the ring and settle the score once and for all.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Pleasant but underwhelming, it feels like something that belongs on the undercard, never reaching the heights of a main event. – Mark Olsen, Los Angeles Times, Dec 26, 2013

Rotten: "Grudge Match" at its core is an affront to the cinema gods, an attempt to capitalize off two iconic films for a few cheap laughs. – Peter Hartlaub, San Francisco Chronicle, Dec 26, 2013

Rotten: The jokes are clumsy, the dramatic scenes stale and lifeless; like the climactic bout, the movie itself is a freak show, a fantasy matchup between two icons with nothing better to do than spend down their legacies. – J. R. Jones, Chicago Reader, Dec 26, 2013

Rotten: Stick with your memories of Rocky Balboa and Jake La Motta, because "Grudge Match" isn't a fight worth fighting. – Adam Graham, Detroit News, Dec 26, 2013

Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro!!!

What an awesome movie. Seeing the two most famous actors that ever played a boxer in the history of cinema is a total blast. Both Stallone & De Niro delivered great performances. The movie was funny, entertaining but also had a great moral message and very inspiring. The rest of the cast was great too including Kevin Hart and Kim Basinger. It is great to see Stallone & De Niro in a movie again since their cop drama movie Cop Land that was released in 1997.
Good job Sly you delivered big time :)

Awesome movie, great story

I don’t know what is wrong with the critics, I guess they’ve just always been a waste of space. Ignore the low rating by critics, this movie is AWESOME. The story is great, the actors are super, the dialogues are so funny. Definitely recommended.

great!

Awesome movie, Im a fan of both actors but was even better than expected
