Plot Summary
Now In Theaters. When Jenny (Anna Kendrick), a hard-partying 20-something, moves in with her film director brother (Joe Swanberg), his wife Kelly (Melanie Lynskey), a budding novelist, and their two-year-old son after a break up, the family's idyllic life is comically turned upside down. Jenny begins a rocky relationship with a baby sitter-cum-pot dealer (Mark Webber) and she and a friend Carson (Lena Dunham) team up to try and help Kelly find balance in her life. As usual, the results are in the eye of the beholder. A new comedy from the director of Drinking Buddies.

Fresh: A quiet, serious comedy about marriage, parenthood and the everyday strains of bringing up a rambunctious toddler while struggling to sustain a creative life.
Fresh: A gently funny ensemble comedy that feels less like a movie than a short story.
Fresh: All in all, "Happy Christmas" is a good deal like cartoon Charlie Brown's classic tree - scraggly, plenty of heart and much to enjoy, especially if you prefer your presents homemade.
Rotten: Unfortunately, Happy Christmas's characters and conflicts are generic compared to Drinking Buddies.

Five Stars!!
I stayed up until midnight to buy this movie, and it was everything and more than I expected. The storyline is intricate with unexpected twists, and Anna Kendrick has some killer one-liners. The fact that this movie was improv makes it that much more impressive. Every one of these actors were perfect for their role. Five stars.
