Plot Summary
Drawn into a menacing underground world of the New Orleans elite while searching for her missing sister, Muriel (Shalom Harlow), Amelia (Liane Balaban) is aided in her investigation by ex-CIA agent Bill (Clarence Williams III) in this effort from Nadja director Michael Almereyda. Soon discovering mysterious webcam footage on Muriel's laptop computer that will seemingly aid them in finding Amelia's sister, the duo is confronted with shifting identities in a scene where no one is quite who they appear to be on the surface. An obscure and disturbing study in the nature of avatars in the age of technological isolation, Almereyda's haunting drama soon leads Amelia and Bill into a complex web buried deep in the underground of a mysterious and sometimes menacing city.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Set in New Orleans, this collection of loosely connected set pieces was written and directed by Michael Almereyda, who is perhaps best known for his 2000 iteration of Hamlet.
Fresh: This small masterpiece has been one of the best films around not to secure a proper theatrical release.
Fresh: This is a droll, laid-back film noir steeped in Crescent City atmosphere and music that culminates in the colliding worlds of genuine and virtual reality.
Rotten: Mourning and gloom weigh upon most of the characters in Michael Almereyda's convoluted and numbingly pretentious Happy Here and Now

left me in a stupor
this was a trippy psychological thriller that was accompanied with a great sound track. one of those films that jumps back and forth between reality and a crazy-contrived virtual world. this film was a visual roller coaster that had some great performances... a deep philosophical metaphor for a world being taken over by computer screens.
Mediocre
While this wasn't neccessarily a bad movie, the plotline and acting aren't especially great.
My good friend
Micheal Almereyda is a very well known friend of my mother. I have seen him make alot of movies ( which are improving every time ) a geat movie he made is " Hamlet " with Ethen Hawk and Julia Styles I would say this moive " Happy Here and Now " Is a smart movie and you have to go deep into the story ( Im in this movie - a very tiny sence )
