Plot Summary
Paul Newman is Harry, a trim, raw-boned hard hat in the construction business. An inelegant widower who lives with a surfer…his 21 year old son, Howard. While Harry spends his time in blue collar pursuits, Howard concentrates on his writing and catching the perfect wave. This film has been labeled a man's 'Terms of Endearment.'

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: A decently intentioned but rather drab mess of a movie.
Rotten: Fuzzily conceived and indecisively executed, Harry & Son represents a deeply disappointing return to the director's chair for Paul Newman.
Rotten: The movie might have worked if it had been a satire of those awful made-for-TV Family Problem Movies. Unfortunately, it does not seem to know it is funny.
Rotten: The script offers few insights and the plot is too predictable to create any tension.
