Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Lifted by the sepulchral Stephen McHattie as Lisa's nemesis, the film's frazzled thought experiment becomes an adequate yarn.
Fresh: Abigail Breslin is effective enough to generate a rooting interest in the plucky protagonist of the piece, and to sustain interest when narrative logic turns fuzzy.
Rotten: Has an elegance roughly on par with a Goosebumps novel, refusing to follow its own contradictory rules and barely sustaining a pretense of internal logic.
Rotten: A dull, confusing movie for which nobody bothered to provide a script.

A reversal of the typical haunted house story
If you're looking for a moderately scary movie, but want to avoid nudity, torture and gore, this is a good one. If I had older kids, this would make a decent scary movie for a family movie night. It's not wholesome or anything, but I don't think there's much that would make parents uncomfortable watching this with family other than mild profanity.
As for the story line, it reminded me a little of The Sixth Sense and Lovely Bones. I enjoyed the storyline, but it's really tame when compared to other horror flicks. Definitely not for fans of more brutal horror or graphic violence.
It had me on edge without making me cringe from disgust. I think it's rare to find a movie that can startle and scare without delving into perversion, mutilation or gruesome acts and effects.
If you think your movie tastes run like mine, I definitely recommend renting it.
WORPOS
Save your pennies folks. This one is as worthless as teats on a boar-hog. Dental surgery without pain killers is preferable to this trite rubbish.
A l-o-n-g, s-l-o-w, but worthy build-up
This movie is competent and respectable with an original plot that ramps up gradually right to the end. Good performances by the two lead roles carry the weight. Definitely creepy throughout. You may agree that the Director should have cut the last scene, but it was still worth the watch.
