Plot Summary
Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson are wonderful together in this lighthearted look at modern romance headed for failure, based on Nora Ephron's best-selling novel. She's a magazine writer who gives up her career for love and family. He's a playboy newspaper columnist who can't quite give up his old tricks. And if that combination doesn't give a relationship Heartburn, nothing will!

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: This is the most disappointing film of the year, considering its pedigree -- a Mike Nichols film from a Nora Ephron script, starring Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson.
Customer Reviews
Has anyone actually seen this movie?
Youd think it would be good with these two actors but it falls short of all expectations. It was just okay.
Awesome movie for Ephron Fans
I'm a huge fan of Nora Ephron's books. With the exception of When Harry Met Sally, her movies seem to lack some of the depth and texture of her written word. If you read 'I feel bad about my neck' you already know this story about her second marriage and how it ends. She is actually very sympathetic with Carl Bernstein's character and all the characters truly live and breathe. This movie has all the elements of her best work and was a very entertaining movie.
Heartburn
This is a wonderful movie---funny and touching---about the difficulty of falling in love and then making that love last. Streep and Nicholson are both exceptional, as are the supporting actors.
