Plot Summary
When a series of explosions disrupt the peace and quiet of Ystad, knocking out the town’s power transformers and sending citizens into a frenzy, the military is called in and the little town starts to look like a war zone. Are the explosions acts of sabotage or terrorism? Everything is in chaos as Kurt Wallander navigates through the darkness to track down the culprits.

Rotten: "The Revenge" is well-made, above-average TV, but it seems small for the big screen. The plot is a bit predictable, and we're still getting to know the characters when the story ends.
Fresh: "The Revenge" is a smooth-enough entertainment that should appeal to Wallander completists and aficionados of the cresting wave of Scandinavian crime stories.
Rotten: On the whole this is a routine mystery tale existing mainly to introduce new characters to the Wallander universe and allow for future installments.
Fresh: An old-fashioned, taut, well-crafted thriller-complete with several wonderful twists.

Very very good!
Having read the books and seen the recent Kenneth Branagh version, I wasn't sure how this series would resonate for us. This is a terrific series so far, well acted, visually fascinating, tightly paced. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the series.
Henning Mankell series
Agree with previous reviewer--good series. I understand that this is series 2--so I hope they get series one on iTunes. Really enjoyed the actor playing Wallender--nothing like Kenneth Branaugh but no less an good portrayal.
This is the second series from 2008-2009
The 2005 date on these films is incorrect, There were 13 episodes in the 2005 first season, These are all the second series.
It's a very engaging dramatization, understated and moody in many ways, nicely filmed and keenly suspenseful in a laconic, low key way. Thoroughly enjoyable.
