Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: "The Revenge" is well-made, above-average TV, but it seems small for the big screen. The plot is a bit predictable, and we're still getting to know the characters when the story ends. – Rachel Saltz, New York Times, May 31, 2012

Fresh: "The Revenge" is a smooth-enough entertainment that should appeal to Wallander completists and aficionados of the cresting wave of Scandinavian crime stories. – Robert Abele, Los Angeles Times, Jun 7, 2012

Rotten: On the whole this is a routine mystery tale existing mainly to introduce new characters to the Wallander universe and allow for future installments. – John DeFore, Hollywood Reporter, May 29, 2012

Fresh: An old-fashioned, taut, well-crafted thriller-complete with several wonderful twists. – Ernest Hardy, Village Voice, May 29, 2012

Wallender wow!

Thank goodness I found one more to watch because I just want to watch this series everyday. I'm not sure if it's a TV series or movies, but I've watched numbers 2-9 and just found no. 1 to watch. I'd read one or two of the novels previously, but the movies really come alive. The characterization is compelling. Plus, you get to learn about Scandinavian culture while being thoroughly captivated by the drama. I highly recommend to anyone willing to step out of the comfort zone of American formulaic drama. Swedish subtitles, but easy to follow.

Outstanding

So well done, great stories, characters, pacing, locations. Love this series, thank you Sweden!
