Henry May Long...dramatic and thought provoking.
Typically watching most independent films can be a mixed bag - some are fine, but most suffer from the constraint of budget or amateur slip-ups. My expectations of Henry May Long took this into consideration, but I was very surprised and delighted by the extraordinary work done here to recreate the mood and details of the period. This tale of two gentlemen, both deeply flawed, and how their lives become intertwined, plays out in a theatrical style - I wondered if this script had been adapted from the stage as each scene unfolded with pointed, yet often sparse dialogue. I felt immersed in the period-correct settings, be it within a wealthy family home, or in a seedy tavern in old New York. The shared leading role(s) well acted by Brian Barnhart and Christian Camargo are really the highlight of the film. Clearly they must have had a natural grasp of the director's objectives in realizing the exploration of this twisted, codependent relationship. Worthy of viewing.
