Plot Summary

Returning to the middle-class neighborhood where he grew up, Henry Poole (Luke Wilson of OLD SCHOOL) chooses to live in indulgent isolation. Real life, however, refuses to cooperate with his plans. Nosy neighbors interrupt him with curious visits and prying questions. Then the situation escalates as a stain on Henry's stucco wall is seen to have miraculous powers. His last-ditch hideout becomes a shrine when his backyard turns into an arena for passionate debate about faith and destiny. Seeking anonymous oblivion, cynical Henry Poole instead finds himself right at the center of the human comedy. Radha Mitchell (SILENT HILL), Adriana Barraza (DRAG ME TO HELL), George Lopez (TV's GEORGE LOPEZ), and Cheryl Hines (TV's CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM) co-star in this comedic drama about a disillusioned man who goes hiding in placid suburbia only to discover he cannot escape the forces of hope.

Customer Reviews

NOT a comedy. Not engaging enough to be a drama.

Acting is good and well cast. Score and soundtrack are both good. Photography is nice, sets feel natural. The premise is good, but the the set up comes slow, like everything else. The story development barely creeps along as the main character goes from sad to miserable. The supposed emotional climax leads to no payoff whatsoever. A pure waste.

Charming, life-affirming

I really enjoyed this movie. It was sweet, life-affirming. One you walk away from feeling good.

Great movie, makes you think....

It doesn't bash you in the head with it's message and it really makes you think. The cast and actiing is great and I really cared about the characters.
