Plot Summary

Eddie Vedder (“Pearl Jam”) is an Executive Producer on HER AIM IS TRUE, the incredible story of the first woman photographer of rock concert cool, Jini Dellaccio. Snubbing convention, Dellaccio reinvented herself in the mid 1960s as one of the most daring and innovative photographers in the field, working with legendary rockers from The Sonics to Neil Young. For the first time in 50 years, Dellaccio shares her story and stunning archive, reuniting with musicians and rock photographers for a riveting voyage tracing the roots of her avant-garde artistry and fearless life, including previous stints playing jazz saxophone on the road with all girl jazz bands and creating jaw-dropping portfolios for fashion models. With a soundtrack and interviews that capture the vibrant music subculture behind the “Northwest Sound”, the film celebrates a legacy lost and found in an enduring story about love, music, indie spirits and breaking the rules.

An Unexpected Music Industry Legend

Karen Whitehead's film is an elegant time machine in which we are observers to an extraordinary life. We soon discover Jini Dellaccio is far more that just photographer, she is a loving wife, loyal friend, talented musician and gracious storyteller. I grew up in Portland and Seattle, Her Aim Is True captures both Jini's spectacular photography and the unique Northwest 60s punk and rock culture. In her 40s her revolutionary black and white photography created iconic album covers for The Sonics and The Wailers. Later Jini's would photograph the early performances by The Who, Rolling Stones, Mitch Ryder and Mamas & Papas. Karen captures every element with raw cinematic artistry.

Her Aim Is True

Great movie about an incredible woman photographer. Jini was there at the beginning of rock and roll documenting some of the biggest names in music and this film showcases her amazing talents and story.

Great Discovery, Karen!

I love stories about undiscovered ‘sheroes’ and this movie, “Her Aim Is True,” really delivers. The production and music make Jini come alive in a warmly personal way. It makes you want to sit down with Jini yourself and have your own chinwag with her :-) Karen has done a great job of capturing Jini's inspirational spirit and love for youthful creativity.
