Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Forced irony or klutziness? Too often that's the question you ask of "Hick," which makes the answer all too clear.
Rotten: Mostly plays like some creepy-perv fantasia looking for mileage from the mature-beyond-her-years presence of young star Chloe Grace Moretz.
Rotten: Too odd to be funny, too cold-hearted to be tragic, Hick is an infuriating muddle.
Rotten: Doesn't deserve to be remembered as much of anything.

Negative Reviews?
I really don't understand the negative reviews at all. I loved this movie. It's completely sick and twisted, but that's part what makes it so good. All the actors are terrific. Nuff said.
Critics miss the mark - again.
About 8 times out of 10, if I go to see a top rated movie, it's a complete waste of time. Critics rave about the same old movies being made over and over again with different actors like they were pharmaceutical salesmen. Yet gems like this often go unseen because of the horrible reviews by top critics. Well, once again, they missed the mark on this one. This film was MAGNIFICENT. I am glad I took the advice of the user reviews rather than the opinions of critics who obvious can't get the taste of rotten out of their mouths long enough to enjoy a good film.
I can only assume the 0 rating is because most, if not all, didn't bother watching it. In any case, this was a great film. I expected it to be alright, but it actually drew me in and kept me intrigued start to finish. Nothing about it was exploitive or gratuitous as I had feared. It was just a great movie with a lot of depth and story. The dangers of reality away from home (as well as the ones in the home) are very well depicted, and the acting is superb all around. There wasn't a second of this movie I didn't enjoy. It may not be my job to criticize films based on my own personal biased views and give no actual useful information about a particular film or films in general, but as an avid movie watcher (aka 'film junkie'), I highly recommend it. ;-)
Chloe Grace Moretz!
Enough said.
