Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: A highlight of the 1998 Sundance Festival: Cholodenko depicts with unwavering veracity the breakup of one longtime lesbian relationship just as another, unexpected one begins. The acting of the three women, Sheedy Mitchell, and Clarkson, is superb. – Emanuel Levy, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Brilliant

Everyone shines in distinctive rolls they absolutely own — stunning!

This is Rada Mitchell's Movie

When I saw this in the cinema, it was because of all the hoopla surrounding Ally Sheedy's performance as a heroine addicted has-been photographer. Not diminishing the impact of her performance, having seen the movie more than once now, I come away more and more believing Rada Mitchell's performance owns this film. Sheedy and Clarkson (one of my all-time faves) are terrific, but it's Mitchell that grounds this one with her every moment on screen. It's definitely a downer of a film, but it was so well-written and performed that I felt as though I knew these drug addicts (in a prior life, ahem) and that I was in that hedonistic den with them as they forced their lives down the toilet. Great work by all involved.

Twists&Turns Galore

This is a very good movie of course without giving away the ending all I can really say is that it was unexpected. Throughout the movie you really get connected with the characters and feel as if you get to know more and more about them as they develop throughout the story. It's a movie you have to be in the mood for, but is worth watching. It really gives an insight of these 'taboo' subjects that one may not have seen. The point of view from which it takes completes the movie.
