Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Everyone here, from beer-swilling white fraternity boys to rap-loving black students harassed by the campus police, can be judged at face value. Everyone is exactly what he or she seems. – Janet Maslin, New York Times, Jul 25, 2010

Rotten: Despite some likable performances (Epps is especially winning), the drama in Higher Learning is constricted, hemmed in by Singleton's compulsion to view his characters as walking paradigms of racial and sexual politics. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Jul 25, 2010

Fresh: Higher Learning is often cliched, unfocused and didactic. But Singleton has a goal most of his contemporaries have given up on: He wants to make a movie that makes a difference. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Nov 24, 2006

Fresh: Higher Learning has a great many things on its mind, which immediately places it in a rather exclusive category of American films these days. – Todd McCarthy, Variety, Jul 25, 2010

If you gave this a 3-1 you dont understand

This movie only got four reviews sadly, more people need to watch this movie and understand that there still is racism in the world even to this day (2008). Ever one always thinks the world is pure of stereotypes and racism and it isnt. This movie shows how some people still are in the world and I enjoy it so much I can watch it over and over. I'm definatly going to buy this movie when my mom told me to watch it when her friend lend it to her I wasnt interested but once I saw what it really meant I love it because this is whats kids,pre-teens,teenagers and adults that still think theres no racism/stereotypes have disappeared totally or take forgranted how some people treat them need to see this movie. I dont know what the other two reviews where thinking but obviously they arent too bright if they didnt get the story and lesson behind this movie. I give it 5 stars and even more if I could.

Overall Good Movie

This movie at first seemed wierd but as i kept watching it, i understood the message and eventually enjoyed watching it. I don't think this is unrealistic and it is a big eye opener about racism that still goes on today. I like it and the next time it comes on i will watch it.

iTunes, we need your help....

This was a good movie and all, but the soundtrack was better than the movie, can we get THAT on iTunes please. There are songs by Tori Amos, Rage, Outkast, Raphael Saadiq, Zhane, and others that I want, people would buy them, it's a fact =)
