Plot Summary

Based on the top-selling, award-winning video game franchise, the Hitman is a genetically-engineered, elite assassin known only as Agent 47. His very existence seems to be a sin, but he wages a quiet war to rid the world of evil. He’s brilliant, charismatic and charming – yet reveals little about himself, has no name, and is known only by the last two digits of a barcode tattooed on the back of his head. His hallmarks are a lethal grace, unwavering precision, and resolute pride in his work. But even 47 couldn't anticipate a "random equation" in his life of exactitude: the unexpected stirrings of his conscience and the unfamiliar emotions aroused in him by a mysterious Russian woman.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: If someone ran this guy through a scanner, the readout would say: "Mark down and stock in straight-to-video aisle." – Kyle Smith, New York Post, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: In the finest tradition of adolescent identification figures, he's not only ruthless, dispatching numerous baddies with hair-trigger shots to the head, but profoundly desexualized. – J. R. Jones, Chicago Reader, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: The only thing Hitman succeeds in doing is confirming what common sense could tell you without spending millions of dollars on a special-effects-filled movie: A series of novels is much richer source material than a series of video games. – Tom Maurstad, Dallas Morning News, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: As far as it being a video game, I was in the theater and I was trying to work the remote control to close the curtains and turn the sound down. – Richard Roeper, Ebert & Roeper, Jun 24, 2010

Gamers have to admit this movie is true to the charactor - great movie

This movie followed the protocol of game to movie sequels. It stayed within the boundaries of the appetite for Hit man series gamers. Admit the original game, came out before similar movies like Transporter, and Borne series. This game started a revolution for movies, and if this movie came out before Transporter, and Borne you all would be praising this movie to the highest level.
