Plot Summary
From the producer of AMERICAN PIE and the filmmakers behind the critically-acclaimed BREAKUP AT A WEDDING comes this refreshing coming-of-age comedy about finding love and the thrilling first moments of adulthood. When high school friends reunite over their first holiday break during college, they discover just how much they have changed while their town of Hollidaysburg has stayed the same. Within hours of his return, former prom king, Scott (Tobin Mitnick) is dumped by his now-depressive girlfriend, discovers his parents have sold his childhood home, and must prepare to say goodbye to his beloved town forever. Meanwhile, Scott's acquaintance and quasi “kid sister” Tori (Rachel Keller) is miserable because of a domineering best friend who she's outgrown, but can't seem to shake. When the events of the weekend throw Scott and Tori together, an unlikely romance blossoms. HOLLIDAYSBURG was featured on THE CHAIR, the Starz TV series that documents two directors as they adapt separate movies from the same screenplay.

Fresh: "Hollidaysburg" is a pleasant if unremarkable coming-of-age film.
Fresh: It's amusing, moving, well-played stuff.
Fresh: Despite its gimmicky provenance, Hollidaysburg proves to be a nicely low-key, unassuming coming-of-age tale about a group of former high school friends reuniting in their Pennsylvania small town during Thanksgiving college break.

This was a really good movie….
I’ve been following the show and wanted to see the end result of both movies (and to show support for the show and for this type of filmmaking experiment). For the low budget they had to work with, the cast and crew got the most out of this one. It wasn't flashy but it looked and sounded great. I really liked the movie, especially the way it conveyed that conflicted set of feelings you have when you only go home, say, once a year. For me, this movie really effectively conveyed how complex and varied those feelings can be.
The photography and editing were also really good (they really got a lot great shots of Pittsburgh in there, which I liked because it’s a beautiful city and you don’t get to see it that often in film). Finally, I’m not usually a fan of voice-over, but I thought it was used very well in this film and I especially liked the concluding (internal) monologue. It put a nice point on the film. Great job, guys!!
A lovely, touching film. Highly recommend!
I’ve been watching the Starz series 'The Chair' and as such have been looking forward to seeing this film. And after viewing I am pleased to report that it does not disappoint!
Dan Schoffer’s script is brought to life in a truly heartwarming and wonderfully understated way by first-time director Anna Martemucci. The cast is fantastic, displaying great chemistry and spot on comedic timing. As a lover of dry and sardonic humour, I found myself laughing aloud several times throughout. Additionally, as a fan of the previous PERIODS feature 'Breakup At A Wedding' and numerous shorts, it was a treat to see Philip Quinaz and Anna on screen.
Needless to say, I adore this film. It is touching and relatable. Visually, it is a joy to watch, offering beautiful shots in and around Pittsburgh (the warehouse scene is particularly lovely!) The score is also perfect, from trailer to closing credits.
Congratulations to Anna and the entire team on this accomplishment. I sincerely hope it continues to garner the attention it so deserves.
:)
Really looking forward to this movie.
