Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The kindest description of Home of the Brave, the first Hollywood movie to examine the experience of American soldiers returning from Iraq, might be that it is fueled by noble intentions. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Rotten: A Hallmark TV drama about the very antithesis of a Hallmark moment. – Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly, Sep 7, 2011

Rotten: Obvious, plodding, cloying and politically innocuous. – John Anderson, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: [Its] mild-mannerness is especially disappointing when compared with such documentaries as The War Tapes and the excellent Home Front, vivid and incisive explorations of post-Iraq anger and disillusionment that have gone largely unseen. – Sam Adams, Los Angeles Times, Sep 20, 2007

More of these movies should be produced...

This movie most will completely never see for it's true ability to allow the viewer to step inside a war vet's life upon the return to the USA. Most will see a vet as a crazy cracked up person, but the storyline does a great job of putting the viewer in the vet's shoes. Most will never understand what being in a 21st century is like, nor will they understand the very personal struggles that the vet will undergo upon there return. Please watch with an open mind, and thank a vet, no matter what they did while serving you, and the USA.

Love It!

Extremely impressed with the acting, plot, and directing. Perfectly constructed and well developed. a must buy!

Solid effort

An overall incredibly powerful depiction of the challenges of readjusting to the trauma of war as Iraq war vets return to the U.S. I found it both compelling and revealing, as well as both sad and inspirational. I would add well acted and solid story-telling. I am sure that some of the critics of the movie were disappointed that the military wasn't cast in a negative way. I would vote for more movies on war in the Middle East - especially as that important part of the world continues to be in foment. As long as they are reasonable accurate and not anti-American, they can help us all understand the impact on our society and country.
