Rotten: Riding in on the four ponies currently plaguing the Hollywood horror-thriller -- overstylized torture, whiplash editing, compulsive script reversals and crude neon lighting -- Horsemen brings its herd home to pasture in strictly predictable fashion. – Jordan Mintzer, Variety, Feb 23, 2012

If you're thinking "it can't be too bad if Dennis Quaid is in it," YOU ARE VERY WRONG.

You can bury the movie in as much gore, creative death traps, and distractions as possible, but the movie is still piece of crap without a good plot. Most whodunit films allow you to piece it all together at any point, but you find yourself so wrapped up in the whole thing until the very end where you end up thinking "well, of course! duh! Why didn't I put 2 + 2 together until now?"; well, the good ones anyway. Very few of these movies completely blow my mind, but most pass as okay stories. Unfortunately, it seems as though the screenwriters for this film had all these great ideas until the simple factor of why and who. They give a real poor effort as to the motive for such freakshow murders and an even worse message to send out to those who wasted their money on this crap. There is no ultimate message to deliver except possibly what the emo subculture may find to ring true their black and miserable hearts. Oh, woe is me. Not only did the director and editors of this film add parts that were unnecessary and jumbled up scenes throughout the film to deliberately prolong the viewers to guess at who had done it, but after all this investigation Dennis Quaid only bothered to check out the connections between the killers/victims toward the very end? Aha! Clue! If this main character were a detective in real life, nothing would ever be solved purely out of raging idiocy. More importantly, the struggles that most of the characters must face are benign and do not justify or provoke such monstrosity as portrayed in this movie. Plus, when were children ever this creative in their suicides? Did the basic methods go out of style all of a sudden? "Oh well it's a movie, things are supposed to be a little more dramatic." Yes, but it should still pass for believable. I strongly believe in the theory that movies should be believable; especially if they are based on our planet like this one! I find myself reeling back from this movie with severe disappointment and purely disturbed at how writers could possibly think this crap can pass for a good mystery or drama. It's like watching As the World Turns instead of a premium content series on HBO.

Dissappointing

The beginning of the movie set things up nicely and I was fully engaged, but 2/3rds of the way through and I was greatly disappointed. Acting was so-so, but the ultimate premise of the movie fell WAY below expectations. I was left scratching my head and saying "THIS is what the movie was about?" Don't want to spoil it for others, so I won't give any details, but suffice to say it's a major letdown with plenty of plot holes to leave you angry and wanting your hour and a half back.

Lame - SPOILERS

The movie started off just fine, but went downhill fast when you learn the identity of the killers. They aren't the least bit scary or intimidating - rather than horsemen they are just a bunch of wussy emo teens. Don't waste your money.
