Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Sure, the film sometimes gets too syrupy - hey, it's a date movie - but the way this tale finally ties into one of the others is sublime. – Neil Genzlinger, New York Times, Oct 1, 2010

Fresh: Unlike the similarly multi-strand Valentine's Day, Hot Summer Days has heart, however overstated most of its action. – Sheri Linden, Los Angeles Times, Oct 7, 2010

Rotten: Hot Summer Days makes a lukewarm case for global warming. It's a better argument that the production of mindless fluff is not just limited to Hollywood – Lou Lumenick, New York Post, Oct 1, 2010

Rotten: Each rising sun ignites a surge of manic hysteria that weaves these tormented, forlorn characters through a clumsy plot riddled with cliche and predictability. – Glenn Heath Jr., Slant Magazine, Sep 29, 2010

Would watch again

I thought the movie was beautifully shot and unique, and not cheesy as is common with a lot of love stories. I'm glad the movie was in the original version with subtitles (to answer Jake908's question), because I also can't stand dubbed movies. I like to hear the actors' actual voices and language when watching a film. I'm not really sure why Streakycrab commented about Jacky's range. Did this person maybe get one of the main actors, Jacky Cheung, confused with Jackie Chan? These are two different actors. I have never seen any of these actors in other movies, and I quite like it that way because sometimes a movie is more memorable when I don't recognize any of the actors. Overall, I would definitely recommend this movie.

Question: Is this subtitled or dubbed?

Please if you have seen this movie post the answer here. Itunes does not always tell you. I hate dubbed movies and want the original language with subtitle, but apple never correctly labels their movies, so please someone let me know before i rent it.

A sweet movie

Loved it!
