Plot Summary

KEEP YOUR EXPECTATIONS REALLY LOW...
There really isn't much to be said about "House at the End of the Street" that hasn't already been expressed by the top critics. It's your typical PG-13 horror film led by a strong female lead and bogged down by one of the laziest, cliché-ridden scripts of the year. Sure, it's pointless, predictable, and entirely forgettable, but it's certainly not the worst amateur fright flick out there. Jennifer Lawrence is to thank for that, as her committed performance manages to elevate the movie from tedious to tolerable. Unfortunately, the material she and the rest of the cast are forced to work with is absolutely dreadful. Though, the story itself isn't bad. In fact, if it was put in the right director's hands, it could've actually worked as an effective mystery-thriller. But the plot never goes anywhere interesting due to the film's annoying insistence of using cheap, predictable jump scares over genuine suspense and tension. On top of that, the characters are never likable enough for you to care about what happens to them, and the random shifts in tone only add to the clumsy execution of this bland mess. I'll admit, the twist ending did take me somewhat by surprise, but the climactic chase sequence that follows is so hackneyed and devoid of any thrills that it just left me yawning in my seat. That being said, "House at the End of the Street" isn't as bad as say, "The Roommate" or even this year's horrendous "The Apparition". It does benefit from a few decent performances and an ambitious attempt at narrative originality, but when compared to everything else it gets wrong, there's no saving it. Kudos to Lawrence and Elizabeth Shue for doing a respectable job with the terrible script handed to them, but unless you're one of those teen girls who'll literally scream at anything in a horror movie, this is definitely a skip.

I don't know what everyone is talking about because I thought it was great! I love this movie! it literally stuck in my mind for about a week after I saw it because i couldn't stop thinking about all the twists and turns that had happened! definitely buying this movie!
Good Movie!
This is a really good movie. The trailer made it look like a ghost movie but it defianatly is not. It has a great twist in it that i did not expect and i was surprised. But like a lot of horror movies the whole movie leads up to the end where they are stuck in a house with the killer. Of course this movie had that to and that scene was a little bit disapointing. But other than that it is a really good movie that i think you would enjoy. IGNORE THE CRITICS they are never right.
