Terrific 70's Horror!!!

House of Dark Shadows is a "darker" realization of the original Barnabas storyline from the afternoon soap opera, without the constraints of the TV censors. The blood flows freely, as our beloved characters are picked off one by one. It was pretty shocking when I saw this as a 9 years old, and I'm pleased to say this movie holds up well- nearly 40 years later! BARNABAS LIVES!!!

Classic!

Basically this movie is the retelling of the original first story of Barnabas Collins (when he is released from his coffin) but originally how Dan Curtis wanted it, more gore. I'm a devoted fan of the original and this movie satisfies. Jonathan Frid and Kathryn Leigh Scott are just wonderful here.

House of Dark Shadows

Great fun, with Robert Cobert's atmospheric score, good scares, and a cast you already love.
