Plot Summary
Set in 1996, this is the true story of the patients of a Russian psychiatric asylum who become involved with the Chechen War after their doctors, nurses and attendants abandon them, and a band of Chechen soldiers arrives to set up camp. Central to the story is a young female patient, Janna, who falls in love with a Chechen soldier, Ahmed, abandoning her boyfriend, Canadian pop singer Bryan Adams (playing himself), who appears to her as a hallucination singing his hit, "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?"

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Only adds to the sense that Mr. Konchalovsky has lost his artistic moorings. He has certainly lost his common sense.
Fresh: A superbly shot film of emotional extravagance, sentimentality and even humor.
Rotten: Ruined from the start by its insulting depiction of mental illness.
Rotten: The misery I suffered in the Russian horror House of Fools, directed by the ridiculously overrated Andrei Konchalovsky, does deserve special scorn, but I don't have the stomach to rehash it.
Customer Reviews
so great
I already own this movie so won't need to be renting it, but I was still pleasently surprised to find it on iTunes. It's kind of a random movie, but funny and touching at the same time. I would definitely reccomend it, and I hope iTunes will continue to get more independant and foreign movies to buy.
