Powerful
saw this when it first aired on HBO…definitely brought tears but i thought it was an amazing documentary and very honest.
This film…
… is a heavy duty documentary. I've always had a very deep respect for the concept of death and our final time here on earth. I've pondered it and have only met a very small handful of people who truly understand how I feel about the permanence of ceasing to exist from life as we know it. Yet, in that process, I believe, 100%, in the Death with Dignity Act and this film, as tough as it is to watch, only reaffirms my belief. I think people who don't believe in such concepts like Death with Decency need to watch this film and reevaluate their perceptions. Because, you don't know how you'll feel if it is you who couldn't make that decision. Each individual should have power over their lives, especially when the pain and suffering exceeds the very nature of ones strongest desire to live. This is an important film and to the core of our understanding of what it is to be compassionate to someone else's needs.
Beautifully done
The film is a beautifully done tribute to the persons and their families who have chosen to die with dignity. Whatever your opinion is of being able to choose your time to die when terminally ill, you have to admit that Peter Richardson does a magnificent job in dealing with such a delicate subject.
