Plot Summary

Two New Yorkers fight the battle of the sexes to a standstill (without entirely realizing it) in this romantic comedy. Andie (Kate Hudson) is a young journalist who longs to cover political stories, but in the meantime she finds herself writing for a women's magazine called Composure, where her editor Lana Jong (Bebe Neuwirth) has her writing a fluffy advice column. After hearing of the latest dating laments of her relationship-challenged friend Michelle (Kathryn Hahn), Andie sells Lana on the idea of writing a piece on the things women do to alienate the men they love, which she'll demonstrate by winning and then driving away a man in a mere ten days. Meanwhile, Ben (Matthew McConaughey) is an advertising man who wants to land a prestige diamond account at his firm. Ben is competing with his pals, Spears (Michael Michele) and Green (Shalom Harlow), for the assignment, so Ben tells his boss Phillip Warren (Robert Klein) that he's the man for the job because he understands the fair sex so well he can make any woman fall for him in less than two weeks. As fate would have it, Andie and Ben end up choosing one another for their mutual assignments, with neither knowing about each other's secret agenda as Ben strives to hold on to Andie while she does everything in her power to annoy him. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days was loosely based on the self-help book of the same name (subtitled The Universal Don't of Dating) written by Michele Alexander and Jeannie Long.

Awesome movie!

I love this movie. It is truly hysterical. Kate's character is a writer for this big magazine and one of her friends has trouble landing a man, she's always losing them. So by helping her keep them she decides to write an article, "How to lose a guy in 10 days." She wouldn't be writing this but her boss says that if she gets a good story then she can write about anything she wants, like politics and wars and all the hard hitting news. Now the other story is Matthews character. He also works for some big people and he thinks of himself as a lady's man so he is over confident. He really wants to get this intern job (or something like that) and these two ladies that also want the job are plotting against him. So one night while at some party he says that he can make any women fall in love with him. So the girls take him up on that bet while his boss says if he can do that (make any women fall in love with him) he has the job. So at the party they see Kate's character and remember she is trying to find a guy and she is going to do everything she possibly can to lose him (i didn't say that before) so Kate and Matthews characters find each other. Now this all has to happen in 10 days (I’m sorry I forget why, the reasons not important to the movie though) Kate's character has to do everything in her power to lose this guy, Matthews character has to do everything in his power to make this girl fall in love with him. I won't tell you the rest but i will tell you this one scene where i was laughing so hard that my eyes started to water and i kept playing it over and over. Alright this is in the middle of the movie. Kate's character is trying to do everything she can to lose Matthews character. So she walks in on the boys having a poker game. She does all these hilarious antics and things to annoy him, you'll have to see the rest for yourself. But during all the crazy things she brings out a tissue and holds it in front of Matthews characters nose and says 'blow' all the guys are snickering and she like, 'no one likes a Mr. sniffles.' and one of the guys is like 'i hate Mr. sniffles'. So he blows and she looks in the tissue (not in a disgusting way, very subtle) and say 'white', that means your a healthy boy'. This movie is laugh out loud funny. If you love Kate Hudson then you have to buy this movie or rent it or something! She is great. This is a terrific romantic comedy!
